Snow & Ice Control

2009 - 2010

Our goal this winter is to keep the wheels turning. It doesn't matter if you drive a UPS or Triple Crown Truck. Maybe you deliver produce to the grocery stores or clothing to the retail stores. Perhaps you drive a school bus, or maybe you are taking a pleasure trip to see family during the holidays. Whatever you are driving or where ever you are going, we want you to make it there safely. We know you will probably have to shovel your driveway first after we pass by your home or business but we don't do it on purpose. We feel our job is important, so bear with us; we are out there for your safety.

During heavy snowfall, we ask that residents use their driveways and not park on the streets. This makes the plow driver's job safer and easier. Please drive carefully and be courteous to plow drivers. They are out there to provide safe driving conditions for you and your family. Additionally, in previous winters, more and more residents are shoveling and plowing snow from their driveways back into the street after the drivers have cleared it. This causes unsafe conditions for drivers and more work for plow drivers. The depositing of a hazardous substance onto a public highway is a violation and the Police Department can issue a citation. We hop this does not happen and that all residents will cooperate. Lastly, there are occasions that lawns are damaged or mailboxes are struck. If this happens please call Perkins Township Street Department at 419-626-1363. Mailboxes are replaced with a standard Post Master approved mailbox. We do not replace damaged mailboxes that are specifically decorative.

Adopted 2010 Proposed Appropriations

The Perkins Township Trustees, working with the administrators of the Police, Fire, and Highway Departments, have compiled the 2010 Proposed Appropriations Budget that was adopted on July 14, 2009.

Each year the Proposed Appropriations (click on the link to view full document) are presented to the residents of the Township and to the Erie County Budget Commission to show the need for the taxes dollars allocated to the Township. In August the Budget Commission will certify the amount of estimate funds available to the Township. The funds are a combination of taxes dollars, other income estimated to be received by the Township, and rollover funds from 2009. Rollover funds are those amounts not already committed for specific purchases or expenses. Once the amounts of rollover funds are determined, the Trustees will adopt the actual Appropriations for 2010, no later than March 31st.
